When I think of research I think of overwhelming stress and
working really hard. This class has deepened my appreciation of research now
that I have a greater understanding of the work behind it.
The nature of doing research is awful. I could never do this for
my life’s work. If I had to have a research job I would want to be a team
member as opposed to doing all the work like we did in this class. I’d like a
helper role because I dig research but not the designing everything part.
Challenges were aplenty in this course. There’s the basic of learning
the terminology and then learning the different paradigms. And I felt like I
was always learning contradictory information.
Thinking up a topic and then having consider all the factors that go
into research….I am surprised there are any researchers left in the world. It
is such a stressful, pull your hair out kind of world. I both think these people
are crazy and amazing.
This class was so hard. I am not sure how I made it through and I am so thankful that I didn’t go through
it alone. Knowing my classmates were going through the same thing really
helped. THANKS EVERYONE!!!
Koni,
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone in thinking that this class was challenging and that research is challenging as well. I felt the challenge and grew from it. I do know that I understand research a little better. I am also amazed at the amount of work that researchers put in and I know that their job is important for the early childhood field; however, I think that my place in the early childhood field is working with the young children. I look forward to reading the research and reviewing the literature on special topics that concern the children that I am working with. Doing mini research throughout my class or school I can see being able to do, but I will leave the big research jobs for someone else.
Thank you for your support and understanding in this course.

This class was difficult for me as well. It was out of my comfort zone. The good news is we made it! I hope you learned a lot and have a new respect for the research process.

Hi Koni,
ReplyDeleteFirst, let me say thanks for all your input in our class. I always looked forward to reading what you had posted. I agree with you, I could never be a researcher as my life's work! However, I do have a better understanding of the process and the steps involved. Sometimes the terminology felt like a foreign language...but we came through it! Good luck in your future courses at Walden!

Hi Koni,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you this class was very hard. At least two times during the course I felt like quitting...also it did not help that we had 3 different professors in the last 4 weeks of the course. But we did it, we learned and now we are more prepared to face and take a new challenge when is time for us to put a research together. I feel like if I passed this course the rest now will be easier. Good luck in your upcoming courses.
